The Atelieretaguardia Studio in Barcelona is planning a 3 day wet plate collodion workshop in Barcelona for May 30, 31 and June 1, 2008 and they’ve asked me to teach it!

B&H hosts a very special and rare gathering of some of today’s leading alternative process photographers for a one day event of epic proportions. We’ve packed as much as we can into this 6 hour event! You’ll hear presentations from each photographer about their work, engage in discussion around alternative photographic practice, and participate in a dialogue about the state of contemporary alternative photography.

This event is not to be missed by anyone interested in; alternative process (from albumen to ziatype), pinhole, zone-plate, toy camera (Holga and Diana), and self-made cameras! B&H Event Space will be hard pressed to contain the amount of creative energy that will be present on this day.

Issue 17 of online documentary photography Blueeyes Magazine is up!

Abelardo Morell: two shows and one lecture

Two shows of pinhole/camera obscura photographer Abelardo Morell‘s work are wrapping up in the next week. One at the Mead Art Museum at Amherst College in Amherst, MA, US, closes this Sunday, 20 January, 2008 (details here).

The other, at the University of New England Art Gallery at Westbrook College Campus in Portland, ME, US, closed the following one, on Sunday, 27 January, 2008. (See the gallery site for more info.)

He’ll also be in San Francisco, CA, US on Friday, 25 January, 2008, giving a talk at the San Francisco Art Institute Lecture Hall at 800 Chestnut Street at 7:30pm. $10 general admission.

Thanks for your patience over the last few weeks while I visited Texas and California. I stayed with friends (including five Boston Terriers, two mutts, and one Boxer, yay awesome dogs!!) and did some of the stuff you’re supposed to do in Texas, like shoot handguns and eat meat. Then I rented a car, took pictures like crazy on California’s pants-shittingly amazing Pacific Coast Highway, and went back to San Francisco, where I got to shoot and visit with some of my photo heroes. I liked it so much that I’m already in the process of moving there, so please bear with me just a little longer… there’s lots more tutorial videos in the works, so stay tuned!
